DOL‑Approved Knowledge Testing
The knowledge test is a written exam that evaluates your understanding of Washington State driving laws, road signs, safe driving practices, and rules of the road. It consists of multiple‑choice questions based on the Washington Driver Guide and is required for obtaining a learner’s permit or driver’s license. Knowledge testing is offered daily at 12:00 PM and every Saturday at 10am. Walk‑ins welcome.
Applicants must have a License eXpress account and be able to log in at the time of testing. Please bring one of the following acceptable forms of ID (required by the Washington State Department of Licensing): You must also have a WDL# with you can get after creating a License Express account.

Washington State Driver License (expired)
Out‑of‑state ID or Driver License
Passport or Passport Card
Permanent Resident Card
Military ID
Tribal ID
School ID (with photo) with Non-Photo Permit
Government‑issued photo ID
Digital copies, photos, or screenshots of ID are NOT accepted. You must present the physical ID at the time of testing.
Instant results are provided, and retakes may be available the same day if the schedule allows.
